CTO Craft Bytes: The Glass Cliff Female and Minority CTOs Face in Companies

About the EVENT

Join us for this conversation where Adelina, CTO Advisor and Founder, The Geek Whisperer will answer your questions about the Glass Cliff often faced by aspiring and ambitious female and minority CTOs.

First time CTOs and Women (and other minority groups) are more likely to be appointed to leadership positions during times of crisis or downturns, where the risk of failure is high.

That new CTO role could become your worst nightmare! We’ll delve into the high expectations, limited support, scrutiny, and career impacts they endure.

Key discussion points include:

  • Crisis Appointments: The heightened risks and challenges during financial, technological, or reputational crises.
  • High Expectations with Limited Support: The pressure on first-time and women CTOs to rapidly turn around companies with fewer resources.
  • Scrutiny and Pressure: The increased scrutiny, harsh judgement of failures, and reinforcement of stereotypes.
  • Temporary Roles: The precarious nature of interim positions and the often unrecognised success.
  • Aftermath and Career Impact: The severe blame for company failures and the long-term impact on career prospects.
